Damn I'm Late on this shit, Anyway I'm back to it to put some shine on the south. For you bustas that donno, the south has RUN rap for the past 20 years, it's one of the main reasons I love bein from here (also the grits like goddamn). I think it's safe to say without the dirty south, Hip Hop wouldn't be half as popular as it is today, ya you northern cats spit some words over some easily beatboxable beats n shit and trust me we appreciate it, but the south? We made that shit marketable.
Anyway we diving back into Clutch city, last guide was on CnS, DJ Screw, and the SUC, and this time imma be covering the rest of Houston. There's so much shit out of Houston so if I miss anything important please let me know, but check the first guide to make sure I didn't cover them there. With that in mind don't tell me about some cat with no album out that had a feature on a Fat Pat song then died cause he injected promethazene into his dick.
UGK
Goddamn, I wish I could communicate to you how much I love UGK. Tied with 'Kast and Keenan and Kel for best grouping of two people to ever exist. UGK is the shit yo, plain and simple. Made up of rappers Pimp C and Bun B, they pumped out consistent classics for 15 years. The butter smooth voice of Bun was perfectly complimented by the slick, mean flow of Pimp. They started poppin in Hustletown around '88 and slowly but surely grew a following around the south till they hit it big featuring on the greatest NY/Southern collab smash hit ever, Jay-Z's Big Pimpin'. From then on they had a few big hits every year, dropped an album at #1, and just generally killed the game. They were on a fucking roll untill the tragic death of Pimp C in 2007. This was the first celebrity death I remember really really fucking with me, and that shit still stings yo. Anyway on that mega sad note, here's the best work they put out and the best songs from each.

Geto Boys and Scarface
You guys like Gravediggaz? What about Three 6 Mafia? Tyler, The Creator? Without the Geto Boys these cats would have nothing to rap about. In 1988 The Geto Boys were rapping about some nasty, horrible shit, and the south ate it up. They started the longstanding tradition carried on by UGK and Triple 6 of southern rappers rhyming about some down n dirty shit, and they really popularized the genre of Horrorcore and brought it to a new audience when they hit big. They also spawned the career of one of the greatest Emcees to ever bless the mic, Scarface. Here's their best shit and Face's best solo shit.

Alright this is for you dummies that think that Southern rappers got no substance. This dude is as much of a conscious rapper as anyone, but he still keeps that southern style. Certified legend, mad technical, and weirdly alot of people dunno who the fuck he is. He also has some of the best album covers of all time Here's his best shit.

Fat Pat and Big Hawk
The saddest story out of Houston, Fat Pat and Big Hawk were brothers, labelmates, and all around super nice dudes. They both were puttin their own melodic spin on Houston Hip Hop, and were tragically murdered 8 years apart. Pat in '98, and Hawk in 2006. They didn't have huge discographies compared to other Houston rappers, but they dropped some classics before they died

The Stoner of the South himself, Devin The Dude is maybe the most consistent solo artist out of Houston. He's been dropping a great album every few years for the past two decades. He mixes his funky flow with a pretty competent singing voice to make an ultra smooth Hip Hop/RnB mashup. Here's his classic shit

Alright I kind of covered him in the last guide but fuck it, this man deserves his spot in any H-town guide. He has maybe the greatest voice in the history of Hip Hop. Ro is the fucking man, plain and simple (Shit even The New York Times recognized). He's been consistently putting out amazing projects every year for over 20 years, here's his best shit in my humble opinion.

Swishahouse golden boy, this dude is like the Southern 50 Cent, put him on anything and he's gonna make it sound like money. The dude's voice is just so perfect for rapping it's almost ridiculous. He's got a few good albums but IMO his mixtape game is where he really shines.

I really only got enough room left for one more group, so let's make it the CCC. CCC was made up of rappers Chamillionare, Rasaq, 50/50 Lil' Twin, Paul Wall, Yung Ro, and Lew Hawk. As a group and solo artists they have a HUGE discography so i'm gonna get to listin. This will essentially just be the entry for Paul Wall and Chamillionaire, cause they're the only ones of the group that did it big after the group disbanded
